This week on Riverdale, Jason’s murder takes center stage after a coupe of episodes in the background.

Five episodes into Riverdale’s first season and it is finally time for Jason Blossom’s funeral. And that means the investigation into Jason’s murder becomes the main focus again.

After an episode that revealed more about Jughead’s family last week, this week more information will finally be uncovered about the Blossoms. Mainly, that even as they plan their son’s funeral, they are hiding massive secrets.

As for Cheryl, Jason’s upcoming funeral is hitting her hard. Luckily, she may have a new friend as Veronica reaches out to her after uncovering Lodge family secrets.

Here is the synopsis for the episode “Heart of Darkness” from SpoilerTV.

THE HOUSE OF SECRETS AND LIES — With Jason’s funeral around the corner, the Blossom family moves forward with last minute preparations – and a secret agenda. Meanwhile, Archie’s (KJ Apa) attempt to refocus his energy on football comes to a halt when an opportunity to work with a new music mentor presents itself. Betty (Lili Reinhart) dives deeper into her investigation of Jason’s death and unearths some dark revelations about her family. Elsewhere, after uncovering secrets about her own family, Veronica (Camila Mendes) forms an unlikely friendship with Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch), who is having a tougher time with Jason’s impending funeral than she lets on. Finally, Hermoine (Marisol Nichols) turns to Fred (Luke Perry) for help after receiving a cryptic message from the Southside Serpents.
Not to be left out of the family secret learning loop, Betty’s continued investigation into Jason’s murder leads to some Cooper family secrets coming out. Seeing as Polly Cooper is set to appear in this episode, the information Betty learns likely has to do with Polly and Jason’s relationship.

Finally, there is Archie, who has found a new music mentor since Miss Grundy is gone. Meanwhile, Fred Andrews gets closer with Hermione Lodge. So while Archie is part of Riverdale’s Dawson’s Creek-like love triangle, his father and Veronica’s mother could be headed for a Rufus and Lily relationship from Gossip Girl.
